The Wave Brought By Samsung

Samsung phones and smartphones have been a big hit ever since they were first launched. Their characteristics like affordability, desirable appearance and design, technologically advanced built-in features and multitasking capabilities have led them to be amongst the top phones in the phone industry.

One of the many Samsung phones that have been launched over the previous few years is the Samsung Wave GT S8500. Its most remarkable feature is that it was the first ever smartphone introduced by Samsung with a capacitive touch screen that worked on the Bada operating system. Bada is a portal where the developers of various applications are encouraged to do better and make the applications for the smartphone industry grow. The user interface (UI) in the Samsung Wave is Touchwhiz 3.0, which is a property of Samsung Inc. The integration of this UI in the Wave attaches important widgets like Daily Briefing, which enables the user to keep note of weather conditions, stock market rates, news about the world and other news. It also includes Feeds and Updates, which is an application that automatically sends alerts to your smartphone about current affairs and events taking place around the globe. The Wave also features Buddies, which is a social networking site that allows you to make friends, call them, text them, share pictures and audio video with them.

Very lightweight at 118g, the Samsung Wave is equipped with a 1GHz ARM CortexA8 central processing unit. The processor also has a built-in PowerVR SGX graphic tool that enables high definition video recording. Something that adds to the fun is the 3.3-inch capacitive touch screen of the phone that enables the user to capture a wider area on his phone’s screen. The screen is coated with a scratch resistant tempered glass that keeps it safe from scratches and smudges. The screen resolution of 800x480 pixels helps in getting better picture quality for captured images and videos recordings.

A 5MP camera with features that include auto focus, geo-tagging, face-smile-blink detection, image stabilization, touch focus and modes for shooting that include continuous panorama shots makes the experience of taking pictures a pleasant one. The camera has a LED flash enhancing picture quality in the absence of light, or in poor light.
The phone also features a 2GB internal storage that is expandable. The reports and reviews claim that the talk time for Wave is estimated at about 15 hours for 2G network and 7 hours for 3G network enabled phones.
Due to the absence of the Super Amoled screen in the Samsung Wave, its production was stopped and was followed by the release of the Samsung Wave II.

The Samsung Galaxy S: Multimedia Functionality

Smartphones have grown in popularity in the past few years. Their sleek designs, portability and multimedia functions make them difficult to pass up. The Samsung Galaxy S has a handful of features that allow it to act as a great portable device for checking emails, playing videos games, watching movies and a host of other multimedia functions. Let us take a look at these features and see how unique they are for this smartphone.

First off, let us start with its visual display, which is a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, able to achieve a 480 x 800 resolution display. When it comes to multimedia capabilities, this screen is equipped with the TouchWiz 3.0 user interface (US). This user interface allows users to access the Galaxy S in a variety of ways. For instance, if you prefer to have more access to social networking sites, then you can set it up to do so.

This UI also has extra features like smart unlock, motion UI and customizable widget screen. This touch screen also has multi touch capabilities, which means it can handle two or more touches at the same time. Ambidextrous phone users will appreciate this feature. To protect it from external abrasions, it is covered by Gorilla Glass, a high grade, virtually indestructible material.
The Samsung Galaxy S has a powerful processor, able to produce crisp visuals without delay. It has a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor and a PowerVR SGX540 graphic processing Unit (GPU). GPUs are designed to render 3D images like 3D moving objects, lighting effects and object visualization. The GPU chip found on the Galaxy S is able to process up to 90 million triangles per second, whereas its smartphone compatriots are still lagging behind in the 30 million mark per second range. It is also ultra slim and portable, with its exact dimensions measuring 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm and its weight is around 119 grams.
Internal storage for the Galaxy S is available in two options, 8 or 16 GB. Once you start downloading music, movies, video games and other apps, you are likely to soon run out of space. To accommodate this problem, Samsung has considerately added a micro SD slot through which users are able to expand its memory up to 32 GB. Its browser is equipped with WAP 2.0 and HTML. It is able to support the Java MIDP modulator and all the major document viewers.

Types of Cell Phone Plans

There are certain choices that a person needs to make whenever he or she needs to switch mobile phones, or whenever one buys a new phone. Many network providers have created a variety of plans as options for their customers, and according to the user’s lifestyle, there is a great plan to suit his or her needs. Cell phone plans are usually difficult to choose, especially when the user is a newbie to this area. Much research needs to be done in order to make an informed decision, but this article points out a few things to keep in mind when faced with the choice.

Prepaid cell phone plans are typically chosen by users who keep track of their cell phone usage and prefer to pay for the air time before actually using the handset. The plan has proven useful for people who are casual workers. These people do not need to constantly be in an office or participate in a lot of communication. These plans are commonly known as Pay As You Go plans and require no signing of contracts to have the services rendered to the individual. The disadvantage of this cell phone plan is the fact that one may need to pay a certain fee after some time, in order to prevent the credits from expiring.

The other cell phone plans include individual plans, tailored to users who only require a single line. The user agrees to sign a contract that ties him or her to a specific amount of talk time on the phone per given period. If the user exceeds this time, he or she will be charged for doing so. There are many cell phone plans that are competitive in this area. One should always conduct preliminary research about the coverage of the service provider. People who travel a lot need to be careful not to subscribe to a plan that will result in them paying more for services that they don’t use.

Another type of cell phone plan is the family plan. As the name suggests, this plan binds together the talk time of family members in one plan, so users are charged less for making calls between family members. The service provider knows all too well that family members speak to one another more. Therefore, they will give the user a good deal on calling rates to family members.
Whatever the plan for a new cell phone is, the user should always do a little research before committing to a service provider.

Dual SIM Cell Phones in the New Age

Change is the way of life and there is nothing better than the change in cell phones throughout the years to explain this. The difference between the first ever mobile cell phone and the dual SIM cell phones available in the market today is huge. The differences can be found in the design of the cell phone, in the size of the cell phone, in the technology used in the cell phone, the extra features added to the new age cell phones, their cameras, music systems, video recorders and many other things.

One feature that has taken the mobile industry world by storm is the dual SIM feature that can be integrated into cell phones. As the term explains itself, a dual SIM phone has two GSM slots for SIM cards, meaning dual SIM phones can make use of the services of two mobile network operators at the same time. In layman’s terms, this means that you can have the services of Verizon as well as T-mobile on your dual SIM phone at the same time. This feature could prove to be very useful at various levels. For some, it might be useful to use two networks on the same phone, as they may be unable to afford two phones; and having one phone with two cell phone networks works a great deal better for the customer as well as the service providers.

For business people who are constantly managing their jobs and working on their phone, they would not want to miss any important business calls. The dual SIM cards feature is an advantage for these business people, as they can advertise and network with more customers and prospective clients than they could if they had a phone with just one network provider.

Others who can certainly benefit from a dual SIM card cell phone are those who work from home. If their workplace is in their home, they need not carry separate cell phones for their work mates and family members. They can have both the workplace and the home contacts stored on the same dual SIM phone and manage work at home effortlessly and efficiently.

Free phones by many mobile operators are also available in the dual SIM cards format. Although leading cell phone manufacturers such as Nokia, BlackBerry and HTC have not yet started producing dual SIM mobile phones, there are some available by companies such as LG and Motorola.

Cell Phone Design Evolution

Since 1983, cell phones have evolved greatly in not only function but in design as well. They can now play videos or run applications that were previously limited to a desktop. Since 1983, several thousand models of cell phones have hit the market with more still to come. Some of these models became very popular while others did not do so great on the market. Cell phones have become part of our everyday life. There are those that have a memorable design.

The most common data application on cell phones is SMS text messaging. The first SMS text to be sent was from a computer to a cell phone in the United Kingdom in 1992. Then the following year, a cell phone in Finland was able to send the first person-to-person text message. Nearly all mobile phones obtain their power from a rechargeable battery. There are various ways of charging cell phones, including portable batteries, using an AC adaptor on the mains power and USB. The year 2009 saw the release of the first wireless charger for consumer use. Earlier models of mobile phones used nickel battery types since they were small in size and had a low weight.

Then manufacturers began using lithium-ion, since they were more durable than nickel metal-hydride. More recently though, most manufacturers have turned to lithium-polymer batteries, since they have a very low weight and can be made into another shape other than the strict cuboid.

Unlike earlier mobile phones, today’s cell phones have a display system, and some more advanced phones have touch screens. Different models have different screen types from just a simple one-color screen to screens with millions of colors. Their size also varies immensely depending with the model and is normally specified as either height in pixels and width or in inches measured diagonally. Some advanced mobile phones have more than one display system for more functionality. Mobile phones with the higher function ability are generally referred to as smartphones. These smartphones have processors similar to those of computers but have been adopted to operate in the environment of low power. They run on operating systems just like PCs and perform most of the same functions. As of February 2010, there were 4.6 billion subscribers of mobile phones. This number is estimated to grow in the future with the introduction of free phones by other service companies.

Ways to Access the Internet Using a Mobile Device

The busy world has now become dependent on the internet, which basically means that you need a mobile device that has internet connection. Unlike before, people can now accomplish less without the internet. You can look around and see that these mobile devices are becoming part of our daily lives. We have mobile devices like mobile phones, iPads, tabs, notebooks, netbooks, gaming system, and iPods.

There are several ways for you to connect to the internet anytime and anywhere on your mobile phone or laptop. These “on the go” internet connections ranges from free Wi-Fi at a hotspot to a mobile broadband.
Wi-Fi hotspots are available in public places like coffee shops, hotels, malls, airports or offices. You can connect your mobile phone or notebook wirelessly to the establishment’s internet service. In order for you to connect, you have to ask for the password, if any, and you have to be within the range of the access point. Most hotspots are free but not secured. Sometimes, internet cafes also provide Wi-Fi.

The internet cafes or cybercafés are best for travelers who have emergency internet need or for those who do not want to carry a laptop with them. The amount that you pay depends on how long you use the internet. Renting a computer for a long period of time in cybercafés can be expensive. This is also not secure and is often prone to viruses.

Tethering is the process of connecting to the internet or going online from your notebook using your mobile phone or a modem. The internet connection is based on your cellular signal. If you have a high signal, the internet connection will be fast when web surfing but it is slow if you have a bad reception. This is a great help if you can’t locate a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Mobile broadband also depends on the cellular signal. You can get a high speed wireless internet connection with the use of a USB modem or a built-in mobile broadband. This is advisable to use for those who need to access the internet regularly and is best for places without Wi-Fi hotspots. The only problem you may have with this type of connection is that you might have a spotty reception that results in poor internet quality, but other than this, the mobile broadband offers a great internet connection.

To make sure that your need and your budget meet, you have to choose the best solution based on your needs of the internet.

Free Public Wi-Fi: Welcome to the Future

The importance of the Web in current times cannot be underestimated. This is definitely a far cry from the past when being connected to the Internet was a privilege for the lucky few. Today, many people take it to be more or less their birthright, due to the fact that it has become so entrenched in our lives that one cannot imagine living without it. This explains the tremendous growth that has been seen as far as Web and Internet access is concerned. Complementing this is the incorporation of Wi-Fi technology that liberates individuals from sticking to their computers and being able to go mobile. They are able to connect wirelessly in any place that has Wi-Fi connectivity, or even in Internet sharing WAN. Given the continued rise of the Wi-Fi connection in the recent times, people are in a position to use their Wi-Fi enabled devices to get wireless connections. Of course, WiFi calling will save you quite a lot of money as you will be able to make free calls when in these zones.

Of course you may worry about where you can access this service, as well as how much you will be required to pay. One thing is that you will find the hotspots almost anywhere. This includes airports, supermarkets, coffee shops, hotels, libraries, military bases, RV parks and numerous other public areas. Many homes and businesses are getting Wi-Fi equipped, thereby expanding your savings opportunities. As for payment, while this service is free in these zones you must pay some money in order to enjoy unlimited access to a Wi-Fi system. However, you can be sure that it will still be cheaper than the monthly rates that you are charged by the various providers. Coupled with the fact that the devices have SIP account settings for four providers or more, you will be happy to get several SIM cards for the various services you would like to enjoy, all in an effort to reduce your expenses as far as mobile devices are concerned.

Many business people have seen the efficacy of incorporating free Wi-Fi in their premises in an effort to get more customers as a value added service. As much as the installation may be seen to cost quite an amount, the increased exposure that the business gets will be more than enough to cater for these costs. This is therefore more of a long-term venturing.

Smartphones and the internet

The manner in which mobile phones connect to the internet is always changing as new and better types of internet connection are being invented every day. The internet connection speeds on most of the phones today is very fast. A few decades ago, nobody could have imagined that such speeds could be achieved. One fine example of mobile phones that showcase these amazing internet connection speeds is the 4G phones. The term 4G phones simply refer to the type of internet connection that is found on these phones. They connect to the internet using the 4G network. The 4G is the latest internet connection that is available to mobile phones and other handheld devices. It is essentially an improvement on the 3G network, which had for a long time been considered as the ultimate in internet connection. The 3G in turn took over from the 2G as the best internet connection type. The 2G has become obsolete and there are very few, if any, mobile phones being manufactured today that utilize the technology. All of these changes and advancements have been made within the span of a single decade and this fact alone testifies to the fast rate at which the face of mobile communication technology is changing.

One very noticeable change that has been witnessed in the recent past is the birth of the new Android phones. These phones are popularly referred to as Droids. These are special phones that run on the Android platform developed as freeware by Google. The Android platform is basically an interactive and dynamic operating system that was developed to increase the efficiency of mobile phones and smartphones. Because the operating system is considered freeware and can be used by any mobile phone manufacturing company, there are already many Android phones from different manufacturers that are crowding the market. The most interesting feature that these phones have is the interactive nature of their operating system. The operating system allows the users of the phone to write software applications that are compatible with the phone. In addition, users are able to download many applications from the thousands of different applications that have been developed for these phones. Most of the Android phones are also 4G phones, meaning that the internet experience that is found on these phones is also a class above the rest. These phones are effectively replacing the more recognizable smartphone models as the world market leaders.

Main Features of a Cell phone

Cell phones have become the world’s most popular communication and electronic devices. Some countries even have more cell phones than their population. There are numerous companies out there that manufacture different types and models of cell phones, but basically, all cell phones or mobile phones have common features. All mobile phones have the following basic components:

• A battery, which provides the power to run all of the cell phone’s functions.
• An input system, such as the keypad, touch screen, microphones. These input mechanisms allow interaction between the user and the phone.
• Basic services of the mobile phone in order to allow the user to make phone calls or send text messages.
• Individual GSM, iDEN, WCDA and some satellite phones are identified uniquely by an International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number.
• All phones of GSM use a SIM card so that accounts can be changed among devices.

Normal mobile phones that offer just the basic telephony and maybe other simple functions like taking photos, playing games and music, are referred to as feature phones. Handsets that have a more advanced ability of computing through the use of software applications are known as smartphones. The first smartphone only added PDA functionality to the basic functions of the mobile phones. The increased processing power of microchips and miniaturization has enabled more features to be added to smartphones. As a result, the smartphone concept has evolved and what was a smartphone three years ago might be a regular phone today.

Cell phone manufacturers have introduced different series of phones in order to capture a specific segment of the market, such as the corporate world, teenagers and various other groups. Some cellular networks also offer free phones on condition that a user will join their network. There are other numerous features that you may find on a cell phone. They include music and video playback, GPS navigation system, RDS radio receiver, memo recoding, alarms, video calling, video streaming, video download, email, internet browsing, ring tone, games, USB, support dual lines, Bluetooth, instant messaging, infrared and many other features.

Some phones even have the capability of making payments through direct schemes of mobile billing or via contactless payments. Some mobile phones also have a feature called an electromechanical transducer, which is normally on the back of the phone and helps the user to hear phone call conversations clearly in a noisy area. It does this by changing electrical voice signals to mechanical vibrations, which then flow through the forehead or cheekbones.
